About Us
Our Story
How many of you have one saree from your mother’s cupboard that you’ll never forget?
For me, it was a deep purple Banarasi saree.
When I was a little girl, I would quietly wait behind the curtain, hoping my mother or aunt would open their wardrobe. Not because I wanted chocolates or toys.
I wanted to see their sarees.
There was one saree I loved more than all the others—my aunt’s wedding Banarasi. Every single time she unfolded it, I would stand there admiring it with wide eyes and tell everyone,
“That saree will be mine after my wedding.”
Years passed.
On my wedding day, she gifted me that very saree.
Today, that saree still lives in my wardrobe.
But the woman who gifted it to me is no longer with us.
Whenever I touch that saree, I don’t just see silk and zari.
I see her smile.
I hear her laughter.
I remember my childhood.
That is when I truly understood something.
A saree is never just six yards of fabric.
It carries people.
It carries blessings.
It carries memories.
It carries generations.
Growing up, every woman in my family wore sarees—not only for festivals or celebrations, but every single day.
My mother cooked in a saree.
My grandmother managed the home in a saree.
My aunts celebrated life in sarees.
To me, a saree was never an outfit.
It was their confidence.
Their grace.
Their identity.
Some of my sweetest childhood memories are hidden inside those drapes.
I remember walking beside my grandmother while holding onto the pleats of her saree.
I remember pulling my mother’s pallu over my head to shield myself from the afternoon sun.
Those pallus were my first umbrellas.
Those pleats were my tiny hands’ safest place.
Then there was my father.
Whenever he travelled to Surat for work, he never came home empty-handed.
He would always bring back bundles of beautiful sarees.
My mother, who had a wonderful eye for design, began selling those sarees from our home to friends and neighbours.
Sometimes she loved a saree so much that she would keep it aside and stitch beautiful dresses for my sister and me.
Without realising it, our home became my first classroom in textiles, craftsmanship, colours, and stories.
That’s where my love for sarees quietly began.
Years later, I built a successful corporate career.
For almost fifteen years, I worked in the corporate world.
But deep inside, I always knew my heart belonged somewhere else.
When I finally decided to build something of my own, I didn’t have to search for the answer.
It had been waiting for me since childhood.
Sarees.
Because this isn’t just what I sell.
It’s what I grew up loving.
It’s what shaped my memories.
It’s what connects generations of women.
That dream became StriYattva.
The name itself represents the essence of womanhood—strength, grace, tradition, confidence, and timeless beauty.
Every saree we curate is chosen with the same love with which a daughter once admired her mother’s wardrobe.
Because I believe every woman deserves a saree that doesn’t simply become part of her wardrobe.
It becomes part of her story.
StriYattva
Where memories become wearable.
